Title: Superconductivity in twisted bilayer WSe2
Abstract: Superconductivity in twisted bilayer and twisted trilayer graphene results from an interplay between interlayer coupling and a moiré superlattice that gives rise to low-energy flat bands with strong correlations. Similar flat bands have been explored in lattice-mismatched and or twisted heterostructures of other two-dimensional materials beyond graphene such as transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). However, despite a wide range of correlated phenomenon robust demonstration of superconductivity in the TMDs remained absent and its possibility an open question. In my talk I will present our recent observation of superconductivity in twisted bilayer WSe2, appearing adjacent to a magnetic ordering state. The ability to vary the twist angle provides a unique capability to modulate the interacting strength in this system and in recent experiments we observe a systematic evolution of the magnetic and superconducting phases. I will discuss our current understanding of the phase space of correlated states in this moire system, and how this relates to conventional examples of unconventional superconductors.
