Research Focus

Pinder is the Facilities Director at UBC Blusson QMI, Advanced Nanofabrication Facility (QNF), and the Quantum Colaboratory (BC node).

At UBC, Pinder has been a driving force in leading the development of critical purpose-built research infrastructure and creating unique training programs for students. Nationally, he has led the development of a $16.2 million CFI-funded beamline at the Quantum Materials Spectroscopy Centre (QMSC) at Canadian Light Source (CLS), a facility of national significance in Saskatoon that is supported by 17 universities.

As part of Quantum Colaboratory, Pinder and partners from Institut Quantique at Université de Sherbrooke, and Transformative Quantum Technologies at the University of Waterloo, lead a national effort that brings together the 3 CFREF-funded programs and provides access to research facilities and expertise to all users of quantum technologies including non-profits, industry, and government.
