Hosted by Mitacs, the Quantum Materials Innovations and Commercialization webinar will take place on March 27, 10:00am to 12:00pm (PT).

Featuring experts from Canada’s leading quantum material research hubs, the event is an opportunity to explore the role of quantum materials in realizing Canada’s National Quantum Strategy (NQS) and showcase the collaborative efforts fueling the discovery of novel materials and the development of groundbreaking technologies.

Backed by an investment of $360 million through the Government of Canada, the NQS aims to strengthen Canada’s position at the forefront of global quantum developments.

Quantum materials have been recognized as one of the five principal quantum technologies in the strategy and play a key role in realizing the strategy’s three missions:

  • Make Canada a world leader in the continued development, deployment and use of quantum computing hardware and software.
  • Ensure the privacy and cyber-security of Canadians in a quantum-enabled world through a national secure quantum communications network and a post-quantum cryptography initiative.
  • Enable the Government of Canada and key industries to be developers and early adopters of new quantum sensing technologies.

Speakers:

  • Andrea Damascelli: Scientific Director at the Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute (Blusson QMI), University of British Columbia
  • Adina Luican-Mayer: Director of the NSERC Training Program Materials for Quantum Technologies (MaQTech), University of Ottawa
  • Louis Taillefer: Co-Director of CIFAR Quantum Materials Program, University of Sherbrooke
  • Nathan Nelson-Fitzpatrick:Director of Quantum-Nano Fabrication and Characterization Facility (QNFCF), University of Waterloo
