Workshop: Synthetic Topological Matter

18 Feb2019

Speaker: Multiple speakers

Time: Feb 18-20, 2019

Aquatic Ecosystems Research Laboratory (AERL) - 120
2202 Main Mall
Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z4

This workshop, held at UBC-Vancouver Campus, will focus on aspects of topological protection outside the traditional realm of electronic systems such as topological insulators and semimetals. Great strides have been made recently in applying concepts of topology to photonic, acoustic, cold atom and mechanical structures as well as electrical circuits, Floquet, polariton and various related systems, creating what has become known as “synthetic topological matter”. The workshop will bring these new developments into focus and will showcase recent successes on both experimental and theoretical fronts. It will also help facilitate discussions of outstanding problems as well as key challenges for future investigations.
